Novak: Russia hopes to complete Nord Stream 2 till end of 2021

ST. PETERSBURG, Jun 3 (PRIME) -- Russia hopes that construction of the remaining 100 kilometers of the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline will be finished until the end of 2021, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Thursday.

“As to the Nord Stream-2, the work continues, it has never stopped. The operator and other participants of the project continue the implementation. We hope that it will be completed this year,” he said, adding that only 100 kilometers of the facility’s two strings are to be constructed yet.

The government does not see any risk of a jet fuel deficit in Russia this summer, Novak also said.

“We monitor the situation, the Energy Ministry meets on a daily basis to discuss the remaining resources and the way the companies fulfil the requirements to supply oil products, including jet fuel,” he said.

Novak said that part of Iranian oil can return to the market this summer if the nuclear deal is resumed, adding that a possible impact of the situation on the oil market should be assessed.
